Daylight Saving Time Just Ended

Day light Saving; "Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise", (Benjamin Franklin)

Saturday night April 5, 2009 was the night for New Zealanders to put the clock back an hour as DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME came to an end. As usual DST was began on the first Sunday of April and ended on the last Sunday of October, so that extra week gives trick-or-treaters a precious extra hour of candy-gathering before sunset (Halloween night). It was the second time New Zealanders have had a three-week extension to our summer and not many are complaining.

Like others we enjoyed daylight saving time very much where we can do our daylight activities until the hand of the clock showing at 8.00 pm. Too much time for leisure activities ey. Cycling, wasting time in the park, walking along the River, more gathering with our Malaysian members and even more party.

Guess what time now? It was 8.00 pm and we still hanged out at the river just like it was still 5.00 pm. Pretty amazing ey. I had never imagined before that we could set the time onward and backward just like we could control the time.

Just to make it clear, let me share my little knowledge about Daylight Saving Time . DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME (DST; or summertime in British English as also called in many countries) is a way of getting more light out of the day by advancing clocks by one hour during the summer. During Daylight Saving Time, the sun appears to rise one hour later in the morning, when people are usually asleep anyway, and sets one hour later in the evening, seeming to stretch the day longer. Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in autumn.
